Which rope to use???

May 9, 2008

My girlfriend says “we” will be trying out some more advanced rope bondage techniques, I suppose I don’t have much choice. She says that it’s called Shibari and I had better start feeling Japanese and get her some rope thats just right for it.  What should I get?  Silk rope and be comfortable, cotton rope because it holds the knots well, or hemp and let her enjoy punishing me for complaining it scratched. Well I did not know what to buy then I found my new friends at Bound to Please have just put up a webpage explaining which of their ropes are good for Japanese Rope Bondage so thats got me out of trouble. I think I might go for the linen because its got the same natural feeling as hemp but without the scratchiness and the farmyard smell. I just hope she doesn’t pull the crotch rope too tight.

Bondage rope my first experiments

January 28, 2008

Would you like to know how I started with bondage rope. Well it wasn’t my idea, my girlfriend brought the idea up and said we should try it. Well I wouldn’t say I liked the idea I loved it, yes I was absolutely spellbound at the thought of it.

At first I had these visions of black leather and manacles everywhere but then it slowly dawned on me all the buckles and stiff leather straps might be uncomfortable and put her off the idea before we had even started. What’s even worse it was going to cost me a fortune for a pile of gear that might only get used once anf then get consigned to the dustbin of sad memories. So I started thinking with my head instead of the part of my anatomy I usually use and it slowly came to me that some soft rope might be a safer bet, particularly if I got it in a sexy or romantic colour. Certainly less of a hassle than all those buckles straps and locks and if I started fumbling with them in the dim light of the bedroom it might put her off before we even started.

White Cotton Bondage Rope from Bound to Please

After some searching I found a good place to buy some bondage rope called Bound to Please and the nice lady who runs it gave me some practical advice. She said to start with some ten millimetre cotton because it doesn’t cut into the flesh so much and its more comfortable when you are inexperienced. Also its easy to undo in dim light if you make a pig ’s ear of it.

When I started to find out how to do it the first thing I found was shibari Japanese rope bondage and boy was it complicated. I thought I was going to need a black belt in origami before I could have some fun in the bedroom. But the people at Bound to Please said I didn’t need to learn all that complicated stuff. They said I should just stick to something basic and concentrate on enjoying it.

So the big night came the girlfriend was there I had the rope, I had the candles, I had the mood music and I had the shock of my life. She walked into the bedroom and told me to lie on the bed face down. Then it dawned on me what here idea of bedroom bondage was – she wanted to have her wicked way with me.
Well that was about a year ago and now I can’t get enough of rope bondage although we switch around sometimes and she lets me tie her up.
Next time I will tell you about the simple mechanics of combining rope bondage with safety.

Enjoy yourself but stay safe Rupert
